 “…to reconcile parents to their children and the disobedient to the good sense of the upright, preparing for the Lord a people fit for Him.” Our Family … In the early 90s, our family started the homeschooling journey. We quickly came to know that it was not just a matter of teaching the ABCs. Instead, it was a journey of faith, establishing good family relationships through our continued walk with the Lord Jesus Christ, and a whole new lifestyle. Our family farm was home to our seven children, a flock of sheep, our dairy herd of two Jerseys, pigs, rabbits, turkeys, chickens, ducks, kittens, dogs, and most importantly for the girls, our ponies. We soon outgrew that farmhouse, so we moved to Kemptville, and added a son to the family. Here our farm included many rabbits, sheep, Dexter cattle and gardening. Our ponies led us into a summer business one year of the “Discovering Ponies Club”, written and taught by our daughters. Through games and riding, our 45 pupils learned about the care, different breeds and how to enjoy ponies. Our family has always been active in our church community. Girls’ and boys’ clubs, preparation for the sacraments, men’s and women’s retreats, Knights of Columbus, and Dan’s involvement with the Keltic Knights, a Celtic singing group who participated in many local benefits for charities have given us a love for service, and helped us also to see the need for strengthening families in Canada. In 2005 we decided to open Blue Mantle Educational Supplies. We felt that that taking on the business would help us serve families to grow in God’s plan, as individuals and as the basic units of society. We hope that our choice of materials will help YOUR family as you grow in love for each other and for the Lord. |
